Access Forms – Database How-To Help?

I am creating a Database (in Access 2007) to list my numerous movies / DVD’s. I currently have the form set up to list the: Movie Name, DVD Type (drop down list for Regular, Blu-Ray, etc.), Standard / Widescreen (drop down list for Standard, Widescreen or Both), Genre of Movie (drop down list for Drama, Action, Comedy, etc.), Year of Movie, Number of Discs, Length of Movie, Watched (drop down list for Yes or No), Notes and Movie Description.

What I would like to do is have a pop up form where I can fill out the information or select it from a drop down list click on a command button that will save it and close it, however I want all the information to be auto populated and added to on a table (like an Excel spreadsheet), where I can have a complete list populated from all the records. I would also like this complete list to be sorted by the movie name in alphabetical ascending order.

Is this possible and how can I set this up, I am not very knowledgeable on Access.

Ok.

Yes this type of thing can definitely be done.
Your best approach is to create a set of lookup tables for the different options.
e.g. tbl-DVDType, tbl-format, tbl-Genre.
Each table should have an ID column (with an autonumber) and a Name.

You create a movies table with columns like this:
Movie name (Text)

formatID -> Set this as a lookup and choose the ID field from the tbl-format.

Repeat for the other lookups.
when you come to build a form then you can convert the ID fields into drop downs.

It is pretty hard to explain like this so if you want to then feel free to email me (via Yahoo Email) and we can take this offline to my private email account.
